Communication Behaviors in Colocated Collaborative AR Interfaces
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present an analysis of communication behavior in face-to-face collaboration using a multi-user Augmented Reality (AR) interface. We conducted two experiments. In the first, collaboration with AR technology was compared to more traditional unmediated and screen-based collaboration. In the second we compare collaboration with three different AR displays. Several measures are used to analyze communication behavior, and we found that users exhibited many of the same behaviors in a collaborative AR interface as in face-to-face unmediated collaboration. User communication behavior also changed with the type of AR display used. We describe implications of these results for the design of collaborative AR interfaces and directions for future research.

Human Communication in Collaborative Augmented Reality Systems
The main goal of this chapter is to give characteristics, evaluation methodologies, and research examples of collaborative augmented reality (AR) systems from a perspective of human-to-human communication. The chapter introduces classifications of conventional and 3D collaborative systems as well as typical characteristics and application examples of collaborative AR systems. Next, it discusses...
متن کاملDo Tangible User Interfaces Impact Spatial Cognition in Collaborative Design?
Developments in digital design workbenches that combine Augmented Reality (AR) systems and tangible user interfaces (TUIs) on a horizontal display surface provide a new kind of physical and digital environment for collaborative design. The combination of tangible interaction with AR display techniques change the dynamics of the collaboration and have an impact on the designers’ perception of 3D...

متن کاملHandheld AR for Collaborative Edutainment
Handheld Augmented Reality (AR) is expected to provide ergonomic, intuitive user interfaces for untrained users. Yet no comparative study has evaluated these assumptions against more traditional user interfaces for an education task. In this paper we compare the suitability of a handheld AR arts-history learning game against more traditional variants. We present results from a user study that d...
